Chief Warrant Officer R.P. Yetman, CD

CWO YetmanChief Warrant Officer Robert Paul Yetman was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in July 1980 at Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre St. John’s Newfoundland and then went to Canadian Forces Recruit School Cornwallis for basic recruit training in August of 1980. Upon completion of basic training, he was posted to Canadian Forces Base Petawawa to 2nd Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (2 RCHA) for trades training part of the Special Service Force (SSF). Following completion of trades training, he was posted to D Battery, 2 RCHA part of NATO’s ACE Mobile Force Land (AMF(L)). During the period 1980 – 1989, Chief Warrant Officer Yetman was employed in several areas of the Battery which included: Detachment Commander, Forward Observation Technician, Reconnaissance Sergeant and Battery Quartermaster Sergeant (BQMS). During this period Chief Warrant Officer Yetman also served on Peacekeeping rotation in Cyprus. This busy period also included numerous exercises oversees to Turkey, Norway, England, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Denmark and France as well as participation in a number of "RV" exercises in Canada.

In July 1989, he was promoted to Warrant Officer and posted to the Artillery School where he completed his Assistant Instructor in Gunnery (AIG) Course. He stayed on at the school as an Instructor until August of 1992 when he was posted to 11th Field Regiment, Guelph, Ontario as the Operations Warrant. Up until 2000, Chief Warrant Officer Yetman supported the Regiment in numerous capacities including; Tech Warrant, BQMS and Battery Sergeant Major (BSM) Field Battery.

Chief Warrant Officer Yetman transferred from the Regular Force to the Primary Reserves in August of 2000. He was promoted to Master Warrant Officer in June 2001 and continued in his capacity of Operations and Training. He was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer in November 2004 and assumed the responsibilities of Regimental Sergeant Major.

In his civilian life, Chief Warrant Officer Yetman has been employed with the Guelph Police Service, Courts Division as a Special Constable since August of 2000. As part of the 200 member Municipal Police Service, Chief Warrant Officer Yetman serves the citizens of the City of Guelph.

Chief Warrant Officer Yetman currently resides in Guelph, Ontario with his wife of 28 years, Jacquie Rodden. Paul and Jacquie have one daughter Erinn. Jacquie is employed with the Ontario Provincial Government, Ministry of the Attorney General, Ontario Victim Services Secretariat as a Regional Manager and Erinn works with the Upper Grand District School Board as an Educational Assistant with students with Special Need.

Chief Warrant Officer Yetman enjoys working out and is an avid comic book collector. He has strong commitments to his community and has volunteered for a large number of organizations and initiatives including: the United Way, the Guelph Food Bank, the Canadian Arthritis Society, the Tim Horton’s Camp Day for Kids, and the Canadian Breast Cancer Run for the Cure.
