MWO (Mr Gnr) Joe Jordan was born in 1955, in Victoria,
British Columbia. He enrolled in the Canadian Forces with 5 (BC) Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery, in 1971.
During his four year tenure with 5 Battery, he reached the rank of Sergeant where he was employed as the Battery Signals Sergeant and looked after all the radio equipment on Vancouver Island. MWO (Mr Gnr) Jordan was transferred from the Militia to the Regular Force 15 May 1975
MWO (Mr Gnr) Jordan was posted to 3 RCHA “H” Battery where he was taught the fine art of gunnery from driver wheel, Basis Artillery Technician, Artillery Communicator, Basic Blowpipe, Basic Boffin and Aircraft Recognition. In the fall of 1975 “H”Battery was transformed into “U” Battery, Air Defence. He continued to train both Air Defence and Guns until his posting to 1 RCHA, Lahr, West Germany, July 1978.
On positing to 1 RCHA, MWO (Mr Gnr) Jordan, joined the new Air Defence Troop where he stayed and was promoted from Bombardier to Sergeant in four short years. After his stint with the Air defence Troop, he moved on to become the Battery Commanders Technician in “A” Battery. During his time with the Regiment he attended the 6A Course, Advanced Combat Arms Communicators Course and the Advance Artillery Technicians Course.
MWO (Mr Gnr) Jordan was posted from 1 RCHA in July 1983 to Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre, Victoria, British Columbia. In 1985 he was promoted to Warrant Officer and posted back to 5 Field Battery as part of the Regular Force Support Staff.
After a short stay in Victoria, MWO (Mr Gnr) Jordan was posted to the Air Defence Artillery School at CFB Chatham in July 1986, where he attended the Assistant Instructor Gunnery Course. He continued to serve with the School until his promotion to Master Warrant Officer. On promotion he was posted to the Field Artillery School at CFB Gagetown to attend the Master Gunner Course in 1989. On completion of the course, he was posted to the Director of Land Requirements 2 at National Defence Headquarters, Ottawa. In 1993, he was posted to 119 Air Defence Battery at CFB Chatham as the Battery Sergeant Major. On promotion in 1996 to Chief Warrant Officer, he was posted to Trails and Evaluation at CFB Gagetown and remained there until he attended his Second Language Training.
On completion of the course MWO (Mr Gnr) Jordan, was posted to the Royal Canadian Artillery School as the Regimental Sergeant Major and the Artillery Regimental Sergeant Major. In 2002 he was posted to 3 Area Support Group, G3 Branch, Regimental Sergeant Major and moved from there in, July 2003 to Land Force Trials and Evaluation as the Unit Chief Warrant Officer, Master Gunner.
MWO (Mr Gnr) Jordan remained with the unit until his retirement on 24 May 2005. After retiring from the Regular Force, he transferred to the Primary Reserve and became the Battery Sergeant Major for 115 Battery, 3 Field Regiment RCA (The Loyal Company). He is currently employed with the Regiment as the Regimental Sergeant Major.
MWO (Mr Gnr) Jordan now resides with his wife, Carol, in Saint John, New Brunswick.
