Canadian Forces Base Shilo, Manitoba

18-Pounder Field Gun This British-designed Howitzer was an improvement from the 1913 model 18-pounder. Produced in 1937, it was available at the start of the Second Wrld War. The major innovation in this developmental period was the change from horse drawn to mechanical transportation. The axle had been modified to accept rubber tires rather than wooden wheels and a braking system was installed.

The 18-Pounder Field Gun/Howitzer was used by the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery in World War Two.
