Each year, to celebrate Saint Barbara's Day, Senator Romeo Dallaire invites 12 senior Gunners to dine in the Parliamentary Dining Room to mark the occasion. While it is a marvelous opportunity for Parliamentarians to see some Canadian Forces leaders in the Parliamentary precinct, it provides a setting for animated discussion on the state of the Royal Regiment and its future in an informal setting.

Many of the senior Gunners were not available last December as they were celebrating Saint Barbara's Day with units thus the luncheon was delayed until 5 February, 2009 when the Colonel Commandant would be available. Regrettably Chief of Land Staff, Lieutenant-General Andrew Leslie was unavailable due to international travel.
