Born in Manitoba in 1934, Brigadier-General Beaudry completed his secondary education in Sprague, continued his studies at the University of Manitoba, and graduated from Queen’s University. He enrolled in the Canadian Officers Training Corps in December 1951 with the Royal Canadian Artillery, and joined the Regular Force in 1952 in the Royal Canadian Engineers. He transferred to The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery in 1954, and served in succession with the 1st Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Winnipeg, the 1st Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment in Picton, X Medium Battery in Valcartier, and the 3rd Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Germany.
In 1964 he served in G Branch at Quebec Command Headquarters, attended the Canadian Army Staff College in 1965, and remained at the college as a staff officer on completion. He was posted to the 5e Regiment d’artillerie legere du Canada in 1969 to form and command Q battery. He was the Commanding Officer of 5e RALC from 1972 to 1974.
After a year as a member of the directing staff at the Canadian Land Forces Staff College, he was promoted colonel and appointed Deputy Commander 5e Groupement de Combat and Base Valcartier. He was assigned to Mobile Command Headquarters two years later as Deputy Chief of Staff Operations. He attended National Defence College in 1979, and was then appointed Director Land Requirements and Director of Artillery at National Defence Headquarters. Brigadier-General Beaudry was promoted to his present rank in 1981 and appointed Commander, 5e Groupe-Brigade du Canada and Base Valcartier. From 1983 until his retirement in 1988 he served as Director General Reserves and Cadets.
Brigadier-General Beaudry is a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Artillery Association and was President of the Association in 1989-90. He served as Colonel Commandant, The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery, from September 1995 to Sepember 2001. He is married to Darlyne Amos of Fredericton and Shilo. They reside in Brockville, Ontario.
