Lieutenant-Colonel Sean Carragher was born to Capt (ret’d) and Mrs. Edward Carragher in New Liskeard
Ontario. He enrolled in 2344 Algonquin Regiment Cadet Corps in 1981 where he was eventually promoted to Cadet Captain and held the position of Cadet Commanding Officer. In 1990 he was accepted into the Canadian Forces under the Officer Candidate Training Plan and began his officer and artillery training. Upon graduation in 1991 he was posted to the Field Artillery School in Gagetown New Brunswick where he filled many junior officer positions. In 1994 he was posted to Second Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Petawawa Ontario where he was employed as a Forward Observation Officer (FOO) with F Battery. Lieutenant-Colonel Carragher released from the Regular Force at the end of 1995. In late 2002 Lieutenant-Colonel Carragher re-enrolled in the Primary Reserve with 56th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery in Brantford. Upon completion of his Battery Commander (BC) course he was employed as BC Firing Battery and Regimental Training Officer. Lieutenant-Colonel Carragher transferred to 11th Field Regiment in May 2007 and took command in September.
In his civilian life Lieutenant-Colonel Carragher is employed in a senior management position within Steel-Craft Door Products Ltd., a manufacturer of sectional overhead door systems. He leads and manages the largest distribution and sales center in the company and is responsible for all aspects of the business east of Manitoba. Prior to joining Steel-Craft he worked for Mitten Inc, a manufacturer and distributor of exterior building products. At Mitten he fulfilled multiple roles from Sales Representative to Product Manager to Regional Sales Manager responsible for three branches across Ontario and Quebec.
Lieutenant-Colonel Carragher has studied at Sir Wilfred Laurier University, Trent University, Université de Montréal and University of Waterloo. He has also had the benefit of professional executive coaching.
Lieutenant-Colonel Carragher currently resides in Cambridge, Ontario with his wife of 17 years, Bonnie. They have two children, Kelsey 15, and Graeme, 11. Both his children are avid down hill ski racers and he has been involved with the sport for over 6 years. In support of the kids he has held position as manager and assistant manager of the children’s teams. Lieutenant-Colonel Carragher is also a board member of the Canadian Door Institute’s Ontario Chapter. He is fluently bilingual.
