The George Blackburn Memorial Bursary

RCA BadgeThe Regimental Fund annually allocates funds to finance bursary awards. The Fund currently awards a maximum of 16 bursaries of $500 each, to serving or former serving (Regular Force) members of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery, other donors to the Regimental Fund and qualified immediate family members of the above.

Qualified family members are: spouse, son or daughter, or under the legal guardianship of members, former or deceased (Reg F) members of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery and other donors to the Regimental Fund.

The applicant must be in his or her final year of secondary education, with acceptance from an institute of higher learning or the applicant must be continuing his/her studies at the aforementioned institute. Such an institute can be a college, technical institute or university. Attendance may be full time, part time or by correspondence, and the program of study must lead to a certificate, diploma or degree. An applicant is only entitled to two awards in a life time.

Serving members working towards a Bachelor’s degree are not eligible, as the CF now provides complete reimbursement towards such degree. Serving members attending university full time are not eligible.

Once applications are received by the RCA Bursary Committee, the bursaries will be awarded based on the decisions of that committee.
