Identification of AL
101.01 The name of Association shall be "The Master Gunners' Association of Canada", hereinafter referred to as "The MG Association".
101.02 The MG Association is established under the Authority of the Director of Artillery. It shall operate in accordance with the instructions contained in this Constitution and the By-Laws which amplify the Constitution.
101.03 The purpose of the MG Association is to foster a spirit of good will and comradeship between serving and senior Master Gunners and to promote esprit de corps amongst all gunners of the Regiment.
The membership of the MG Association shall consist of:
102.02 Personnel of the Canadian Forces and Commonwealth who attain the qualification of "Master Gunner" shall automatically become members of the MG Association.
102.03 Personnel of the Canadian Forces who retire after receiving the qualification "Master Gunner" shall continue to be members of the MG Association.
102.04 The Master Gunner of St James Park shall be respectfully requested to become an honorary member of the MG Association.
102.05 The serving members may appoint a MG Trumpeter, and request that he attend and sound dinner call at annual meeting dinners.
103.01 The MG Association shall be administered through a committee comprising:
104.01 The MG Association shall endeavour to meet at least once per year.
201.01 These By-Laws are designed to amplify the Constitution.
202.03 The membership of the MG Association shall consist of:
202.04 The President shall be elected from the serving members at the annual meeting. His term of office shall normally be for two years.
202.05 The Secretary-Treasurer shall be elected from the serving members at the annual meeting. His term of office shall normally be for two years.
202.06 The Historical Member shall be elected from the serving members or senior Master Gunners at the annual meeting. His term of office shall normally be for two years.
202.07 The Editor shall be elected from the serving members or senior Master Gunners at the annual meeting. His term of office shall normally be for two years.
202.08 In order to provide close collaboration, the President, Secretary-Treasurer and Editor shouldd be from one geographical location; i.e., CTC, DREV, etc.
203.01 The annual meeting shall be called by the President. All members are expected to attend.
203.02 The annual meeting swill normally be held over a two day period, however this time period may be extended if directed and/or authtorized by the Director of Artillery. The following format is suggested and may be modified according to topics of special interest:
204.01 Annual dues will no longer be collected from all members. Conference dues will be paid by all members of th MG Association attending the annual conference. Members who wish to receive correspondance from the Master Gunners' Association must also pay the Conference Fee. The amount is to be set annuall by the committee.
205.01 The committee will be responsible for the following duties.
205.02 a. Liaison with the Colonel Commandant and Director of Artillery in all matters pertaining to the MG Association.
c. Calling a meeting of all members at least once a year.
d. Arranging for the publication and distribution of the Master Gunner News Letter prior to the annual meeting.
e. Contracting a distinguished guest of honour for the annual dinner.
f. Formally offer honourary membership to each newly appointed Master Gunner of St James' Park.
205.03 a. Recording the proceedings and producing minutes of the annual meeting.
c. Preparation of the Warning Order and Agenda for the annual meeting.
d. Liaison with coordination NCO of the hosting unit to prepare for annual meeting and dinner.
e. Handling and security of all correspondence, monies, files.
205.04 a. Maintains albums and items of interest to the MG Association.
c. Liaison with the RCA Museum to ensure they receive/display historical MG Association items.
205.05 a. Maintain a news letter file and is responsible for the preparation, publication and distribution of the Master Gunner News Letter.
c. The collection and collation of articles for the news letter.
205.06 A senior or serving member from each of the districts listed in para 205.07 will be responsible for the following:
b. provide information on transportation being made available for the meeting; and
c. informing the Secretary when any member:
(2) is deceased, or
(2) change address.
205.07 Districts
