RSM RCA Chief Warrant Officer J Boivin, MMM, CD

CWO Boivin enrolled with the Canadian Armed Forces on January 09,1979. After completing CWO Boivinbasic training, he was posted with “Q” bty of the 5e Régiment d’artillerie légère du Canada (5e RALC) in Valcartier.  In 1980-81, with the 5e RALC, he was deployed with the United Nations in Cyprus. In 1981, CWO Boivin was posted to Federal Republic of Germany with “C” Bty, 1st Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (1 RCHA). Promoted Master Corporal in August 1982, he occupied the positions of Recce Sergeant, Forward Observer Technician. Promoted Sergeant in 1985, he became a Detachment Commander on a M109. On return to Canada, in 1986, he was posted to Shilo, Manitoba, where he was an instructor at the Artillery Battle School. In 1988, he took the position of Operation Sergeant (Ops Sgt) at the Artillery Battle School. During the summer 1989, he was posted to Gagetown, New Brunswick, on the 6B course where he became an instructor with the Field Artillery School. He was promoted Warrant Officer in August 1989 and joined the Instructor Staff for Assistant Instructor in Gunnery courses (AIG) until 1991.
In 1991, he was again posted to the 5e RALC Head Quarter Bty (HQ BTY) in Valcartier, where he occupied the positions of Regimental Command Post Warrant Officer, Technician Warrant Officer, and Troop Sergeant Major. In 1995, he was deployed with the “Q” Bty in Bosnia with the 3 R22R Battle group. In 1996, he is redeployed with the 5 RALC in Haiti as the Troop Sergeant Major. Promoted Master Warrant Officer in 1997, he was appointed as the Battery Sergeant Major of “R” Bty and “HQ” Bty from1997 to 2002. Upon promotion to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer in 2002, he was transferred with the Land Forces Doctrine and Training System as the Command Chief Standard Organization Representative in Secteur Québec Force terrestre. Posted with 5e RALC in 2005 he became the 14th regimental sergeant major. In June 2007 he is deployed with Kandahar provincial reconstruction team till February 2008. Back from Afghanistan in 2008 he is posted to Ottawa with the Director General Personnel and Family Support and Services.  In June 2010, he took the appointment of RSM Royal Canadian Artillery. He is now the commandant of the non commission member professional development center in St-Jean sur Richelieu.
