General

Throughout its history, The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery has established funds to undertake various non-public activities that benefit all its members.   As of 18 November 1984, all previous RCA funds were amalgamated as The Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) Regimental Fund.  On 16 August 1988, Revenue Canada approved a change of name to "The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery Regimental Fund ".

Fund Administration
The RCA Executive Board manages the fund.  Membership of the Executive Board consists of the Commander Home Station (Chair), Commanding Officers and Regimental Sergeants Major of the Reg F Units.  In attendance at the meetings are the Director of Artillery, the RSM RCA, the Regimental Major and the Regimental Adjutant.  Regimental Headquarters (RHQ) manages day-to-day operation of the fund.
Fund Operations
The RCA Regimental Fund is a non-profit organization of the Regular Force component of The Royal Regiment. Revenue Canada recognizes this fund as a charitable organization for income tax purposes, with a registered Charity number - 11925 2997 RR 0001. Its purpose is to provide financial support for the non-public affairs (NPA) of The Royal Regiment.
Donor Reward
In order to provide donors with greater flexibility in choosing a gift in return for their donation, the Donor Reward programme has been established.  Donors will receive a credit at the RCA Kitshop equal to 10% of their annual donation (the maximum allowable by a charity).  This can be used to purchase the Canadian Gunner at cost plus shipping or as a credit towards any Kitshop purchase.  The Donor Rewards will accrue if they are not used.
Regimental Communication Programme

The Regiment has established a communication programme to keep all members of The Royal Regiment informed on the many varied activities in which Gunners are involved.  The Quadrant.  This publication comes out three times a year (previously twice a year) and is a compilation of Gunner news.  Articles are collected
from all the units and other newspapers that have Artillery related articles. The Quadrant is distributed to all Artillery units at a rate of one copy for every ten members (previously The Quadrant only went to donors contributing at the recommended rates).  Should individuals desire their own copy; a subscription can be obtained for $8.50.

The Canadian Gunner.  This annual publication acts as the Artillery yearbook.  It contains a summary of all Artillery unit activities.  The Canadian Gunner is aval at cost ($3.60 plus shipping) through the Donor Reward Programme to donors.  To non-donors it is aval at a cost of $7.50.
RCA Web Site.

The Regimental website located at www.artillery.net is maintained by RHQ.

RCA Photo Competition.  Cash prizes are awarded for the best Artillery related photograph.
Member Recognition Programme
This programme was established in order to recognize the hard work of members of The Regiment.  It provides top student awards on courses conducted at The Royal Canadian Artillery School, Colonel Commandant's Commendations, and retirement gifts.  Members of the Reg F are entitled to receive a framed retirement scroll after six years of service with the Artillery.  Members who depart after twenty years are entitled to the scroll plus a statue.  In order to award these gifts, units need to contact RHQ with the departing member's name, rank, decorations and dates of service.
Grants
Previously units had to approach the RHQ for money to fund a project that promoted the history and traditions of the Artillery.  In March the Board decided to create grants for the units to spend on worthy projects.  Reg F Artillery units will receive a grant based on $7.00 per peacetime Reg F establishment position (ERE are included under RHQ).  Units must still account to RHQ for what the money was used to buy IAW the law governing charities.  ERE members wishing to access this fund are to contact RHQ.  Other grants issued yearly are for the RCA Museum, RCA Band and the Petawawa Museum (for Artillery artifacts).  A new grant was established for the 1 RCHA Pipes and Drums to refurbish some of its deteriorating equipment.

NPP Grant.  An allowance is granted to Reg F Units based on $3.00 per peacetime Reg F establishment position.  The money is to be used for the maintenance and upkeep of NPP held in trust by the unit and for the upkeep of period dress uniforms.  ERE members may access this money though RHQ for the maintenance of Arty NPP that may be held at their respective locations.
Deployment Flags
Regimental flags are provided to units deploying on operations.
Regimental Identity Program.
This programme ensures the maintenance of a common identity within the Artillery.  The programme consists of the provision of Regimental Standing Orders to all units, (presently in translation), and the initial issue of Regimental accoutrements and tracksuits to Reg F QL3 and Phase IV graduates.  Members who commission from the ranks also receive the fabric cap badge.
Member Assistance Program
This programme is designed to help Gunners ease financial burdens.  The Regimental Fund awards 16 Educational Bursaries of $500.00 each for eligible dependants (spouses, children etc) to further their post-secondary education.  Emergency Assistance grants of $500.00 are aval to help Reg F members of the Artillery who are in financial need.
Regimental Professional Development Programme
This programme is  designed to promote professional development within the Artillery.  The components are the conduct of the Junior Officers' Course funding for the Master Gunner Conference and provision of prizes for the Colonel Geoffrey Brooks Memorial Essay Competition.  Essay entries are due to  HQ NLT 28 Feb.  For additional information contact RHQ.
Contributions

Voluntary donations by Reg F members of The Royal Regiment form the largest source of revenue for The RCA Regimental Fund.  Donations to the Fund are tax-deductible.  The suggested monthly donation scale is:

Gunner to Master Bombardier - $3.00;
Sergeant to Warrant Officer -$6.00;
Chief Warrant Officer - $10.00;
Officer Cadet to Captain - $8.00;
Major to Lieutenant Colonel - $13.00; and
Colonel to General - $20.00.

The simplest way to contribute is to make a pay assignment to code P028.  Retired or former members of the Regular component and members of the Reserve component of the RCA may contribute to the Fund through an annual cheque.
